Start flexing those creative muscles because State Library’s annual Young Writers Award is now open for 2015!

Submit your short story for your chance to win great prizes and kick-start your writing career.

The competition is open to Queensland residents in two age categories:

  • 18–25 year olds (stories 2,500 words or less) – WIN $2,000, a Brisbane Writers Festival pack and professional development opportunities
  • 15–17 year olds (stories 1,500 words or less) – WIN an Apple iPad Air 2, an iTunes gift voucher and professional development opportunities

The Young Writers Award has helped launch the literary careers of many prominent Queensland authors, including Christopher Currie (The Ottoman Motel), Alasdair Duncan (Sushi Central), Chris Somerville (We Are Not the Same Anymore), Benjamin Law (The Family Law) and Tara June Winch (Swallow the Air).
