TEDxQUT Project Team Application 2027

This is the application form to join the TEDxQUT Project Team for 2027. Positions open to QUT Students include Content Creators, Photographers, Videographers, Graphic Designer, Editorial Advisor, Exhibition Curator and Emcee. You don't have to be a professional to apply, all you need is creativity and a willingness to learn!

Applications close 22 February 2027, but you are encouraged to apply now as we onboard as soon as we can!

About TEDxQUT

TEDxQUT is an independently organised event created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading". Started in 2013, TEDxQUT is an annual event featuring a line up of live speakers, who share diverse and unique ideas in the form of short, powerful talks. This year, TEDxQUT will be held on the 8 September 2027 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at the QUT Gardens Theatre.

About the Volunteer Roles

As part of the team, currently enrolled QUT students will have the chance to gain hands-on experience for professional development in these areas.

Emcee - Work closely with the TEDxQUT team to create an engaging and entertaining event script, attend speaker coaching sessions for professional development, and help create a memorable experience for the audience. This role offers valuable public speaking experience and exposure to live event delivery.

Editorial Advisor - Support speakers throughout their TEDx journey by conducting interviews, contributing to essential fact-checking, and providing feedback and guidance. Team members will also have the opportunity to attend a couple of speaker coaching sessions, gaining insight into content development and professional presentation.

Content Creators - Help build the TEDxQUT brand by creating content for the TEDxQUT social platforms and driving audience engagement before, during, and after the event. This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, or social media strategy, however, this is not a prerequisite to apply.

Graphic Designer - Create visually compelling assets for TEDxQUT, including the official event program, presentations and digital promotional materials. Collaborate with the Content Creators to produce assets for social media content. Designers can use all assets in their professional portfolio.

Photographer - Capture the story of TEDxQUT both in the lead-up to the event and on the day itself. Collaborate with the Content Creators to produce high-quality content for social media. Opportunity to build experience in event photography, content creation, and creative collaboration, and ability to use assets in your professional portfolio. It is preferable for applicants to have their own equipment, but cameras may be borrowed if required.

Videographer - Capture the energy and impact of TEDxQUT through engaging video content on the event day itself. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in event videography, content creation, and working within a fast-paced, professional event environment, with selected work able to be used in your professional portfolio. It is preferable for applicants to have their own equipment, but cameras may be borrowed if required.

Exhibition Curator - Create a platform to showcase and celebrate the diversity of QUT students, by planning and coordinating a photography exhibition to be held during the main TEDxQUT event.

Being part of the TEDxQUT Project Team may also lead to further opportunities to collaborate with QUT Student Engagement in the future, and team members may be eligible to receive a professional reference in recognition of their contribution and performance.
