Roland Bishop Biomedical Engineering Early Career Researcher Award 2021

The Roland Bishop Early Career Researchers Award for Biomedical Engineering Research is funded through a generous bequest gift to QUT made by Mr Bishop through his Will when he passed away in 2017. To honour Mr Bishop, this special award of up to $25,000 has been created by QUT in partnership with his family, to support the work of talented early career researchers in developing innovative medical devices or medical device technology.

4. Project Summary

Please provide a Project Summary focusing on the aims, significance, expected outcomes and benefits of this project. Write the Application Summary simply, clearly and in plain English. If the application is successful, the Project Summary is used to give the general community an understanding of the research. Avoid the use of acronyms, quotations, marks and upper case characters. (No more than 750 characters, approximately 100 words)

5. Project Objectives

List each objective separately (up to 3 objectives recommended). Each objective should be no more than 500 characters, approximately 70 words.

6. Benefit and Impact Statement

Write the Benefit and Impact Statement simply, clearly and in plain English. (No more than 750 characters, approximately 100 words). Research impact is the contribution that research makes to the economy, society, environment or culture, beyond the contribution to academic research. Examples of research impact or the path to impact could include: such things as broader job creation (excluding employment of the research team); revenue earned or evidence of research advice or methodologies being successfully adopted by end-users, government or other organisations.

If you completed your PhD more than 5 years ago you may be eligible to apply for this award if you have experienced an interruption that has impacted on your academic record. Provide clear information that explains the relative importance of different research outputs and expectations in your discipline/s. The information will help the selection panel to understand your academic research achievements and should include the importance/esteem of specific journals in your field such as first authorship/citations, or the significance of non-traditional research outputs (No more than 3,750 characters, approximately 500 words)

Applicants can apply for a maximum of $25,000 which must be spent within 1 year.
